I see myself in a continuous development which will hopefully lead me to more experience.
What I do, comes from inside and corresponds with my nature.
That’s why I ask my visitors to regard my homepage and pictures as very personal.
I can hardly live without creative activity. So I try all kinds of avenues,
such as portraits, drawing and painting with most diverse materials and styles:
manga, fantasy, pop art, abstract, etc.. However, I find again and again that surrealism
is my prevalent artistic direction. My inspiration arises from vastly different areas,
from music to literature, or from the great, famous examples of art.
Many images are born out of playing with symbols, colours, lines, and structures.
Most pictures come about subconsciously as I paint without specific prior planning.
I rarely know beforehand what would evolve as I give myself to the creative process
without any goal orientation. The results often amaze and surprise me. In many of my
pictures, I deal with visions of human beings, their expressions, relationships to the
world and technologies which are surrounding and coercing us.

 

 

 

 

The following text is the translation of a news review written by Roswitha Frey and published in the Badische Zeitung

The painter Thomas Bossert of Lörrach has clearly been influenced by the great surrealists Dali, Magritte, and also H.R. Giger. In his acrylic paintings  he combines organic elements, forms from the microcosm or mandalas with human figures, and thus symbolizes how tightly intertwined the human existence is with its external world. In one of his paintings, aptly named “Part of Nature,” the human body is completely interlaced with an intricate organic weave. There is a face, eyes are everywhere, an over-dimensional foot, a hand, a female nude, and streams of energy. With such surrealistic pictures, Bossert also addresses the manner in which we find the connection to our environment, while he lets the unconscious and imaginary flow into his work.

 

Der Maler Thomas Bossert aus Lörrach wird deutlich von den großen Surrealisten Dali, Magritte, und auch HR Giger beeinflusst. In seinen Acrylbildern verbindet er organische Elemente, Formen aus der Mikrokosmos oder Mandalas mit menschlichen Figuren, und symbolisiert so, wie eng verwoben die menschliche Existenz mit ihren äußeren Welt ist. In einem seiner Bilder mit dem passenden Namen "Part of Nature", ist der menschliche Körper komplett mit einem komplizierten organischen Gewebe verbunden. Mal taucht ein Gesicht auf oder Augen an versteckten Stellen, ein über-dimensionaler Fuß oder Apfel, eine Hand, ein weiblicher Akt, und Ströme von Energie. Mit solch surrealen Bildern, gehe er auch auf die Art und Weise, in der wir Verbindung zu unserer Umwelt haben, ein. Unbewußtes und Imaginäres findet in seinen Arbeiten seinen Platz.
